Questions about pepper
Do you have questions about pepper? You can find answers here.
Why are there different types of pepper?
The term pepper refers to a whole range of plants that have spicy, tasty fruits. Some of these are "real" pepper from the pepper family (Piper nigrum). Other plants belong to a completely different plant family (e.g. Winteraceae) but are also called pepper. The best-known pepper is the black, white and red pepper from the pepper family (Piper nigrum).
Just as we use different types of vinegar and oil in the kitchen today, we can also use different types of pepper. Even if a selection of peppers does not change your dishes in a fundamental way, a distinctive pepper can give a dish a new, perhaps exotic, flavor.
What about ground pepper?
One of the questions about pepper is often: what do you think about ground pepper? The pepper aroma is very subtle and disappears very quickly once the peppercorns are ground. So please don't buy ground pepper. It is usually dried, dusty stuff that is just spicy. Grind the pepper fresh - with a mill, a mortar, by hand - it doesn't matter, just fresh.
Why do your products not have a seal?
As much as I know that seals can be a way to find your way, I decided against them because each seal comes with additional costs (unfortunately, these are not free) that I do not want to add to the product costs for customers. In addition, I personally find the "seal jungle" too confusing and changeable.
Where can you experience Pure Pepper live?
Pepper is a spice that everyone likes to smell and taste. Unfortunately, I cannot offer you the pleasure of smelling and tasting my fresh pepper online. But you can talk to me and my pepper at markets and trade fairs, touching and asking questions.
Every new market and trade fair is a great opportunity for me to talk to customers, interested parties and fellow exhibitors. I learn a lot about the way pepper is used, what people thought about pepper and what they knew. Very often the conversations also focus on the beauty of the pepper growing areas and that it is always worth traveling to where the pepper grows.
For upcoming dates, please look in the footer of the website under "Pure Pepper on Tour". If there is nothing there, there are no dates planned yet.
