UNCOMPROMISINGLY GOOD AND FAIR PEPPER QUALITY

The Pure Pepper Taste Secret

pepper quality every day

Pepper quality means only pepper from the current harvest

I don't sell any older pepper! That's why I only sell really fresh goods - so-called "vintage pepper" - pepper from the current harvest year. Since pepper, like all spices, has a fleeting aroma, only really fresh pepper brings out its taste, aroma and spiciness. For this reason, I have decided to only offer pepper from the current harvest year. You won't find any older pepper in my online pepper shop. Once the current harvest year is over, the pepper is taken out of the range.

In addition, it is unusual in the spice trade to state the year or place of harvest of the goods. This is precisely what makes it difficult for the consumer to assess the freshness and thus the quality of the pepper. So how is a consumer who has never smelled or tasted fresh pepper supposed to know what fresh pepper is? I want to give my customers the opportunity to check the freshness and quality of the pepper they buy from me. For this reason, every jar and every package states when and where the pepper was harvested. I am uncompromising in this regard.

I personally select the pepper on site

In order to be able to offer you the best and tastiest pepper in the world in my online shop, I always travel to the countries where pepper is grown and look for interesting types of pepper and reliable pepper farmers. Whether it's a cooperative or individual farmer - before working with someone, I look closely at how and where the pepper grows, how it is harvested and what else the farmers make a living from. I only add the pepper to my range if the overall picture meets my requirements and expectations and the quality is right. I make no compromises.

personal contact

I know each of my business partners personally

I only do business with people I know and trust. This is why I have been in close contact with some of my suppliers for many years. Like with Sujata, the owner of anIndian pepper farm . We have had a close and trusting business relationship for many years. Because I know that I can rely 100% on the quality of the Indian mountain pepper she supplies. I make no compromises in this regard.

I pay fairly for carefully hand-harvested pepper

What is quality? Handwork has its price. And it should be paid in countries like Cambodia and India. That's how I see it anyway, and that's why I pay my suppliers fair prices for the pepper they carefully pick by hand. Some of it is harvested under difficult conditions and then sorted by hand. Every single grain is sorted individually, so to speak. This guarantees the exceptionally good quality of the pepper I offer and is worth every cent to me. I make no compromises.

sun-dried
My pepper is sun-dried and therefore particularly aromatic

Every pepper that you buy in my online shop is sun-dried for at least a month. This means that it is stored exclusively in the sun for several weeks. By regularly moving it in the air and sun, the moisture is gently and slowly removed from the peppercorns. This requires a lot of patience and perseverance, but is rewarded with a particularly intense pepper aroma. I am uncompromising in this regard.

Here you can buy pepper in light and aroma-protected glass

Just as it takes a long time to dry the pepper gently in the sun to develop its full aroma, it will disappear just as quickly if it is stored incorrectly. The aroma and taste of the pepper are extremely volatile. It is therefore important to store it away from light and dust. I researched and searched for a long time to find packaging that would guarantee this.

And I learned from history: Even in ancient cultures, people tried to protect their valuable substances isolated from nature against light-induced degradation processes. For example, the highly developed Egyptians used violet glasses and golden containers to store valuable essences. Since then, many new packaging materials have been introduced. Glass is still the leader today - despite its fragility.

However, the different color variants of traditional types of glass (white, brown, blue and green glass) are transparent in the visible light spectrum and therefore do not offer sufficient protection against the degradation processes caused by light. That is why the glass I use is violet glass, based on the example of the ancient Egyptians. It blocks the light best and thus preserves the aroma and taste for the longest time. And it is also 100% recyclable. I am uncompromising in this regard.
